GATE preparation time is the hardest
time. Candidate thinks about 100 times before starting GATE preparation.
When he can see himself in IIT’s, then he goes for the same. GATE
examination is divided into various sections. 70 marks are secured for
technical portion, 15 marks for mathematics, about 10 marks for aptitude
and 5 marks for English section. You may skip English section as it is
quite vast and easy enough to secure 2 marks out of 5.
Few students are scared of Mathematics
but let me tell you friends, mathematics is one of the simplest sections
in exam. If you were comfortable with mathematics of +1 and +2 then you
can easily fetch 12 marks out of 15 marks in mathematics. Aptitude
section needs practice of 10-12 types of quality topics. These include
time and money, percentage, profit and loss, speed and time etc.
Next comes technical section. For this
you need you concentrate on basic concepts as of now basics and
fundamentals should be cleared. You may refer to the study material
mentioned in the previous article, for clarification of various topics
deeply you may refer to www.nptel.iitm.ac.in . This website includes all the IIT lectures.
You need not fetch 100% marks in GATE
examination. This exam includes lots of negative marking. You need to
improve your accuracy and increase your attemptation. Concentrate on the
limited study material. Study less 10 times rather than studying more 1
time. Keep solving practice papers from time to time. Use ‘Master 7’
technique. It means master 7 subjects completely and rest take lightly.
The most important topics in CS/IT are
Algorithm, CN, OS, DBMS, automata, COA which have equal importance and
each comes of 8 to 10 marks. Stick to those subjects first which are
confined and can be covered in lesser time. Example DBMS have limited
syllabus but C language is quite vast. So choose your preferences
accordingly. Get guidance from your seniors or higher authorities. GOOD
LUCK!!!
